Being back at work has slowed things down, with just Saturdays being devoted to the project until I get some more leave at the end of November. The past 4 weeks have been dedicated to getting the boot and real wheel arches finished off and painted, with in between time spent on wet sanding and buffing the engine bay.
The boot itself was in pretty good condition with the obvious damage being where someone in a previous life had taken to the passenger side arch panel with a hammer to straighten out a minor bingle. With the rust in the back corners long since removed and a number of pin holes in the seam section filled with weld, the main work was to do some cosmetic filling, priming and painting.
The back support cross member for the boot floor had also obviously been knelt in the middle at some stage with a marked bend in the metal. A screw jack was placed between it and the floor and it wound by hand until the section returned to its original shape. Some minor panel beating was then undertaken to get things back into a nice straight line, with a little filler to finish off.
