The last two weekends have seen continuation with work on the floor. In particular reinstating the left hand jacking point which had been repaired by the previous owner. It turned out to be quite a work of art, and as usual Paul’s attention to detail was meticulous. Stronger than the original I suspect. Moving on to some pin holes in the floor above where the exhaust heat shield was fitted, it was decided that the metal was just too thin so the damaged sections were removed and new sections installed. Some damage around the seam of the left hand wheel well and the floor was beaten out and the seam welded. Finishing off a new section was made up for the right hand front corner, ready to be welded in.
Whilst pondering the ever improving state of the floor, an inspection of some previous work on the front cross member was inspected more closely. Unfortunately the quality of the work (done by a well meaning friend) some twenty years ago, whilst sound, was not up to scratch. After much chin scratching, it was decided it should be replaced so new parts are on their way from England. Detail of this repair will appear in a not too distant post.
